Certified Physician Wound Care Specialist Re-certification & CME Requirements
Recertification
Re-Certification Requirements
- Fee: $204 (every 2 years)
- CME Requirement: 20 CME credits over the prior two years
- Submit the ABWH re-certification form and documents to applications@abwh.net at least 5 business days before expiration
- Include proof of payment, CME credits, Category 1 or 2 verification, and a letter of good standing
- Applicants not in active practice but meeting CME requirements remain eligible
Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements
- Minimum of 20 CME credits within the past two years
- At least 5 credits must focus on wound care
- Category 1 or 2 activities may include:
- Teaching, research, or journal review
- Published articles or textbook contributions
- Attendance at wound care conferences
- Service in hospital or committee roles
Failure to Re-Certify
- $100 penalty for late renewal
- 6-month grace period allowed after expiration
- Failure to re-certify within this period results in loss of designation and requires reapplication and exam retake
